Description
After saving the world from his fiendish father's side of the family, Cal Leandros and his stalwart half-brother Niko have settled down with new digs and a new gig-bodyguard and detective work. And in New York City, where preternatural beings stalk the streets just like normal folk, business is good. Their latest case has them going undercover for the Kin-the werewolf Mafia. A low-level Kin boss thinks a rival is setting him up for a fall, and wants proof. The place to start is the back room of Moonshine-a gambling club for non-humans. Cal thinks it's a simple in-and-out job. But Cal is very, very wrong.
Cal and Niko are being set up themselves-and the people behind it have a bite much worse than their bark...

Summary: "I still don't know why I like it"
I have never been a fan of vampires and werewolves. I have always said "I hate fantasy/monster stories. I want science fiction and there had better be a damn healthy dose of science". And yet here I am, book 2 complete and I'm waiting for the UPS dude to deliver book 3 now. He's making me wait, the punk...
Anyway, I really enjoyed the tone of this book. I liked looking into Cal's sarcastic and sometimes dark inner musings intertwined with a heap of violence and his interactions with his almost completely mute brother. Currently this series has 5 books, I hope to see many more.
Bring on book 3 UPS man...

Summary: "4.5 stars. The werewolves make Cal an offer he can't refuse..."
"Moonshine" is a great second book. It's not perfect, but it delivers a healthy dose of Cal and Niko and non-stop hilarious/terrifying action. Rob Thurman writes great fight scenes that feel like good action sequences in your favorite action films.
In "Moonshine", Cal and Niko are dragged into the midst of a war between rival Kin groups. The Kin is the werewolves' Mob equivalent. Cal faces the danger of losing someone he loves when that someone gets kidnapped by the Kin. And when it couldn't be any less convenient, an old enemy crops up again, and messes things up even more for the Leandros brothers...
You'll meet a both new and familiar cast of monsters, all horrifically original, and of course, there's Goodfellow. I won't go into plot details, 'cause I hate spoilers. In short: if you liked "Nightlife", get "Moonshine". Definitely get "Moonshine"!

Summary: "Cal number two kicks some serious butt"
The second book in the Cal Leandros series is filled with more action, more sarcasm, and more awesome fight scenes. I can not get enough of this series. It is addicting, well-written, and fast paced. You will fall for the characters and come to wish you had people around you as awesome and interesting as them. Life is dull without the Leandros brothers.
I recommend this series to EVERYONE with a hint of interest in Sci Fi/ Fantasy. Seriously, these books kick ass. I won't give you the details of the book, but I will say one last thing; if you are looking for a good time, just buy the book already.

Summary: "Getting better all the time."
This series is only getting better and more interesting as Rob works the kinks out of the world that she has created. If you're a fan of the genre, this series will win you over the first time you meet a monster that you've never heard of before. Get it, if you're lucky you'll love em' as much as I did!

Summary: "George is just a girl..."
In book 2 of the Cal Leandros series we find Cal, Niko, and Promise settling into a fairly comfortable life. They've started a new business. The Auphe are all but gone. Niko and Promise are discovering one another. Life seems good. And then George goes missing, apparently taken by one of their own clients. They'll have to find a crown that he wants or lose George for good. Oh and maybe the Auphe aren't as gone as they thought.
It's a well written series, one which I'll continue to read. Still, like book one, I feel as though something is missing with the supporting cast. I know that it's the Cal Leandros series and yet there are supporting characters so why do I care about Promise? George? We get so little time getting to know them -- at least in books one and two (I've not yet read any further). We do get to know Robin, a little. Even Flay, who I am guessing isn't meant to be seen after this book and who mostly grunts out partial sentences, had more of a chance to show us his character than some of the more long term characters have had. Sure we know that Promise had her share of husbands and can fight along side the brothers, but beyond that we see very little of her personality. Same with George. She's a psychic. Okay. Cal loves her -- why? Her looks? Because she's different too? They definitely don't get to speak for more than a minute here and there, at least not that we see.
It's the fact that those supporting characters seem to be neglected that I have to give these books 4 instead of 5 stars so far. But, even while feeling as though I missing out on getting the full story with those characters, there's still plenty to keep me coming back for more.
